Our willingness to invest in our people, our ability to leverage Merrill Lynch’s investing resources and specialists and to provide access to Bank of America consumer and business banking services, positions us to help you devise strategies designed to preserve, grow and distribute your wealth.
The financial advisors at our Branch can offer financial strategies that come from years of combined wealth management knowledge and experience. We also stress that our role goes beyond wealth management. Employing the broad resources of Merrill Lynch, our financial advisors can assist with retirement planning, guidance on concentrated stock positions, traditional investments and estate planning services, while working with your other professionals, such as estate and tax attorneys.
Through our volunteerism and charitable outreach, our Branch helps support the economic, social and cultural life of the places in which we live and work. In virtually every Merrill Lynch location across the country, employees are involved in fundraising activities meant to benefit their many neighborhoods and causes. And as a local Branch office, we feel it is important for us to “give back” and help maintain vibrant, healthy communities and non-profit organizations.
As a Merrill Lynch client, you have access to the knowledge and experience of industry skilled financial advisors who are supported by the intellectual capital of Merrill Lynch, a goals-based wealth management platform, and the technological resources of a leading global financial services firm. Our advisors strive to fully understand your personal and business needs, and those of your family and future generations. We will put your interests first to help you pursue your financial and life goals.
Our deeply committed financial advisors call upon Merrill Lynch’s tools and resources to help clients pursue personal and professional financial goals, as they also help them prepare for financial and lifestyle challenges that may lie ahead.
The Short Hills Branch is headquartered in our office and led by our Market Executive, James P. Hughs , a Merrill Lynch veteran since 1995. Jim manages approximately 150 financial advisors, and as often as possible takes the opportunity to interact with their clients to help him gain a deeper understanding of clients’ concerns, risk tolerance, time horizon, liquidity needs and goals. Jim also works closely with the Branch’s Office Management Team to manage risk and help ensure that advisor teams are working to enhance the overall client experience.
Our Short Hills Branch office’s financial advisors have one primary goal: to help affluent, high-net-worth and ultra- high-net-worth households and business owners pursue their financial goals. Pursuing those goals can require a sizeable team of financial professionals, led by an experienced Market Executive who is also responsible for enlisting experienced advisors and career-changing recruits. The Market Executive in your Branch helps to support advisor efforts through innovative planning, active leadership, and exceptional service.
The Office Management Team (OMT) collaborates on executing strategic initiatives in the market. The administrative manager team has a primary objective of managing risk, reputational and financial exposure for each advisor and the firm; the client relationship management team addresses all components of the client service experience while driving operational excellence; and the executive team adds its experience in providing the tools, training and support that are essential to the needs of the business and clients.

One of the things that helps make Merrill Lynch a desired destination for high-achieving individuals and experienced financial advisors in Short Hills is the Office Management Team (OMT). OMT offers a culture of providing expansive resources and training to advisor teams and career-changers; encouraging them to use new and innovative business strategies; providing an efficient management structure and a dedicated effort to manage risk. We believe that outstanding local leadership— which usually includes a Market Executive, Division Executive, business and operations support teams, and relationship and administrative managers—is a major reason why many advisors have found success in the Short Hills Branch.
